CDEP is based on the UK national diabetes competency frameworks. These frameworks help structure the nature and level of diabetes skills required by all healthcare staff to support safer patient care, improved outcomes and reduce the financial burden of diabetes.
AusCDEP is a version of CDEP which has been fine-tuned by Australian diabetes healthcare professionals to ensure it is applicable to the Australian population, culture and healthcare system.
AusCDEP is currently endorsed by Diabetes UK and the British Dietetics Association. We will actively seeking further Australian endorsement once the pilot is completed and evaluated.
Practitioners receive certificates for topics completed, which meet AHPRA’s CPD Registration requirements. CDEP also has a reflection tool as well as a secure feedback portal to collect evidence of learning and applying it in practice for professional portfolios.
